Books to Bowls Cookbook Review Policy & Submission Guidelines

Hey Cookbook Authors & Publishers!

Got a cookbook you're itching to share with the world (and my hungry readers)?  Books to Bowls is a cookbook review blog where I dive headfirst into your recipes, giving potential buyers a real sense of what's inside. I'm talking flavor, texture, recipe clarity, cost, prep time – the whole shebang!  I help cookbook lovers get a taste of what to expect before they buy, offering insights into your recipes and who might enjoy them most.

Here's how I spread the cookbook love:

  • Blog posts (the heart of Books to Bowls)
  • Snappy YouTube Shorts
  • Engaging Instagram Reels
  • Informative Instagram Stories
  • Eye-catching Instagram Posts

At this time, I'm focusing on written and video reviews and don't offer author interviews.  But who knows what the future holds? As Books to Bowls grows, that might change!

Want your cookbook featured? Fantastic! I'm a big believer in the tactile joy of physical books, so please send a physical copy my way. No digital copies, please – I'm old school like that plus physical books are easier to work with. Contact me below, and let's chat. I'm always excited to see what you've cooked up, pun intended!

I am especially excited about "sneak peeks"! Not-yet-published cookbooks get priority in my review schedule. Already-published books are welcome too, but please allow up to a month for them to be featured on the blog and socials. I got a busy schedule and want you to be prepared. Plus, cooking recipes takes a while.

While my main focus is on cooking and baking recipes, I also review food writing – both fiction and non-fiction. So, if you've penned a culinary masterpiece, I'd love to read it!

My Review Policy (aka The Fine Print):

I'm passionate about cookbooks and respect the incredible effort that goes into creating one.  It is important to recognize that in a world of AI-generated content and low barriers to entry for self-published cookbooks, my loyalty lies squarely with my readers. I strive to provide positive and honest reviews.  If a recipe is poorly written or doesn't work, I'll say so (nicely, of course). Positive reviews cannot be bought, traded, or coerced in any way. My readers trust me to be real, honest, and straightforward.

I'm also human (shocking, I know!), and mistakes happen. I'm open to feedback and retries if I've clearly messed something up. But, like the average home cook, I have a "three strikes" rule. If it takes me three tries to get a recipe right, then it's probably not going to work for most people. Thems the rules.

Finally, just because I might not personally enjoy, say, maggot-infested Sardinian cheese (casu marzu – yikes!), doesn't mean I won't review it fairly. I'll acknowledge its cultural significance, describe it accurately (including the whole maggot thing), and recommend it to those adventurous souls who are keen to explore the more… unusual side of global cuisine. Someone out there must like it, right? They still make it so someone must like it.
